Verna Alma Cleveland

BALLANTINE, MT. ---- Verna Alma Cleveland and her husband farmed in the Worden area until 1929, then started a trucking and hay-bailing business, and in 1943 farmed east of Ballantine.

An active person who made the most of living, she enjoyed gardening, crafts and dancing.
She was a member of Congregational Church Ladies Aide, Hobbie Club and Home Demonstration Club.

Mrs. Cleveland, 85, died Friday of heart failure in Mission, Texas, her winter home.

Born in Billings, MT., she was a daughter of Robert and Eva Mills.

Her family lived in White Sulphur Springs and in 1916 returned to the Yellowstone Valley.

On June 23, 1917, she married DeForrest Cleveland in Billings.

Survivors include her husband; five sons, Roy of Martindale, Fred of Mission, James and Walter, both of Ballantine. and Don of Billings; a sister, Lena Smith of Santa Ana, CA.; 129 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Ballantine United Church of Christ with Smith Downtown Chapel of Billings in charge.
