Death of Miss Kidder
Our entire community is in sorrow over the death of one of its members. It is sorrow of a peculiar kind, for the life which has just gone out was a young life.
Miss Wealthy Kidder died at her home in Scandia Kansas, Thursday evening October 17, 1901 at fifteen minutes after eight o'clock. Her death was sudden and unexpected. She was born in this county May 12, 1880. She was the third child of a family of four children. Most of her life was spent in and near Scandia where she grew into womanhood. She became a member of the Presbyterian church in April 1894. Until her health began to fail, she was a faithful member of the Sabbath school. Those who knew Miss Kidder speak of her as a young lady of true and noble qualities. In her home life she was good and kind and seemed to find special comfort in the quiet hours at home with her loved ones. She was a devoted daughter, a loving sister and a true friend.
The funeral was held in the Presbyterian church which was appropriately arranged by those who had associated with her there in life. The large attendance of relation and friends was sufficient evidence of the esteem in which she was held. The body was laid to rest in River View Cemetery. In the death of this young lady a home has lost a loved one and the community a friend. The sympathy of all goes out to this bereaved family.

IN MEMORY OF WEALTHA
Weltha Letticia Kidder so dear,
Was born the twelfth of May.
In Republic County Kansas here,
and lived in a Christian way.
Was born eighteen hundred and eighty,
on the homestead south of the hill.
and went to Scandia when a child,
Her life work to fulfill.
October the seventeenth she died,
or peacefully went to rest.
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Or safe on his loving breast.
The last words Wealtha said,
Was don't be frightened, let me rest,
Then soon her spirit fled,
To go to the home of the blessed.
She loved her mother very sincerely,
she loved good things to do,
She loved her friends all dearly,
Her love was pure and true.
She was very fond of music,
She would sing and play.
She always made us feel so welcome,
That we loved at her home to stay.
She was going home nothing to fear,
'Twas the Masters call for Wealtha,
Though we mourn for the flower so dear,
She has gone to be happy and healthy.
We miss this darling one of our,
Though here we can see her no more.
Her grave we'll cover o'er with flowers,
And meet on the other bright shore.
our friends are going one by one,
The Master is calling them home.
We know not when our time will come,
To go or to be left here alone.
