Topeka State Journal Thursday 6 January, 1977, pg. 13:
Services will be Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home for R. Dale Finney, 76, 947 Lindenwood, who died Wednesday at a Topeka hospital after a short illness. He was born Nov. 10, 1900 in Wamego and lived in Topeka most of his life.

He was graduated in 1926 from Kansas State University and was a civil engineer. He was employed by the Kansas Highway Commission during college and continued working there until the late 1950's. He served as engineer of materials for Alaska Division of Highways from 1960 until 1964 and then became manager of Kansas Asphalt Pavers Assoc. in Topeka. He retired in 1970.

He was a 50-year member of Topeka Lodge No. 71, AF&AM, a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Arab Shrine and Topeka Elks Lodge, and a life member of Kansas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

He was married to O'Reta Young in 1928. She died in 1973. He was later married to Grace Shiner Jan. 21, 1974. she survives. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Frankie Davidson, Leawood; and a brother, Delbert A. Finney, Chanute.

Graveside services will be Saturday at Wamego City Cemetery.

R. Dale Finney is actually buried in Wamego Cemetery (according to obituary dated Jan. 6, 1977) along side of his 2nd wife, Grace Shiner Finney.
