Jacob N. Deardorff, 94, died Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at 2 a.m. at Manor Care Health Services Dallastown. Funeral Saturday, August 27, at Workinger-Semmel F.H. and Crematorium, York. Burial in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Mr. Deardorff was born April 17, 1911, in East Berlin. He was the son of the late Harvey and Neta (Crumbling) Deardorff. Mr. Deardorff was supervisor of the machine shop at B.M. Root Co. for several years. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church; a graduate of William Penn High School, and a founding member of Delphia Athletic Association where he was the assistant basketball coach. He was an avid bowler for over 50 years in York County and an avid hockey fan, especially of the Hershey Bears team. He played sand lot hockey. Jacob was a member of Pine Grove Furnace Association where he built his own log cabin in 1930. He was an avid traveler throughout the United States and the Caribbean. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Roy, Richard and Raymond Deardorff; three sisters, Grace Ginter, Frances Keebler and Mary Mutzabaugh; and his life long friend, Harlan "Buck" W. Fox.
