JANE E. LOW (1916 - 2013)

WATERMAN – Jane E. Low, 97, of Waterman, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Bethany Healthcare and Rehab Center in DeKalb.

She was born on June 27, 1916, in Chicago, the daughter of Philip L. and Ethel C. (Doyle) Getzinger.

Jane was united in marriage to Mr. Charles Stanley Low on June 2, 1944, in Warrenville, and they spent the next 33 happy years together until his passing in 1977.

She graduated from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich. Mrs. Low was a former Home Economics Teacher having taught in Michigan, the Hinckley-Big Rock Grade School and 15 years in the Sandwich School District. Jane worked side-by-side with her husband, Stanley, farming on their homestead southwest of Waterman. She was a member of the Waterman Methodist Church in Waterman. Jane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Jane is survived by her children, Richard (Theresa) Low of Waterman and Susan (Keith) Littlejohn of Newark; daughter-in-law, Beverly Low of Smyrna, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley Low; son, Charles Low; one great-granddaughter, Megan Zak; and brother, Retired Colonel Philip S. (Cathy) Getzinger.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Nash-Nelson Funeral Home, 1001 E. Garfield St., in Waterman, with the Rev. Paul Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Johnson Grove Cemetery in Waterman. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, until the hour of service at the funeral home in Waterman.
