November 2, 1905 Spring Valley Sun: At Clear Lake, Minn., Thursday morning Chris Bartholomew and George Jurney of Spring Valley were driving across the railroad track at a sharp curve, when a passenger train came too quickly for them to get out of the way. The wagon was smashed to pieces and carried on the pilot of the engine to the next stop. One horse was killed. George Jurney was thrown a considerable distance and badly hurt. Mr. Bartholomew was instantly killed his head being cut of. Mr. Bartholmew was a poor man with a large family. The older children are away from home, but he leaves a widow and four little children at home.
