Adele Amanda Deacon Mills, daughter of Elon Taylor Mills and Elizabeth Emma Deacon Allen, was born on Dec. 11, 1894 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and passed away Dec. 18, 1981 at Hebron, at the age of 87 years and 7 days.
She was baptized October 15, 1895 in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Chascomus, Argentina. Then in her latter years she chose to be baptized again, this time by immersion in the Highland Park Baptist Church in Los Angeles, Calif. where she joined and remained a member until her death.
On August 14, 1913, she was united in marriage to Frank Joe of Alexandria in the Baptist Church in Fairbury. To this union eleven children were born, six sons and five daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Claudia (Mills) Lee and Dora (Schmidt) Sowers; two step-fathers, Tobias and Conrad Schmidt; one son who died in infancy; a step-daughter, Ida (Joe) Walker; and two sons-in-law, Gerald Lee and Ralph Menke.
She is survived by five sons: Melvin Joe of Grand Island; Francis Joe, Pinetop, Ariz.; Harley Joe, Alexandria; William Joe, Fargo, North Dakota; and Lloyd Joe of Lincoln; five daughters: Mrs. Earl (Norma) Arnold, Bruning; Mrs. Ralph (Roma) Menke, Hebron; Mrs. Gerald (Neola) Lee, Fairbury; Bonita Joe, Omaha; and Mrs. Darrel (Audrey) Fawley, Aurora, Colorado; and by 23 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; four daughters-in-law.
Funeral services were held at Hebron on December 21. Burial was in the Alexandria Cemetery.

Adele Joe was married to Frank Joe.
They had 10 children:
Melvin Joe, Norma (Joe) Arnold, Neola (Joe) Lee, Francis Joe, Harley Joe,
Roma (Joe) Menke, Bonnie Joe, Bill Joe, Lloyd Joe, Audrey Joe.
Bill, Bonnie, Lloyd, Roma and Audrey are the only siblings still living. Roma is 91 and lives in Hebron.
