West Haven - John E. Glynn Sr., 76, of 1187 Campbell Avenue died Friday, September 5, 1997, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford, after a long illness. He was the husband of Clara Deveny Glynn. Mr. Glynn, son of the late John W. and Ethel Issacs Glynn, was born March 11, 1921, in New Haven. He was a lifelong West Haven resident. He retired in 1973 from the former Armstrong Rubber Co., where he worked for 31 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Hughson-Miller Post 71 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Besides his wife, he is survived by sons George C., John E. Jr. and Roger T. Glynn of West Haven and Mark T. Glynn of Boynton Beach, Fla; daughters Claire J. Glynn and Linda Homan of West Haven and Gloria Bruneau of Branford; brother Edward Glynn of West Haven; sister Doris Bonito of West Haven; and 13 grandchildren. Mr. Glynn was predeceased by sisters Elizabeth Ginty, Ethel Boyle and Evelyn Emmerich. Memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice Inc, 51 Burban Drive, Branford 06405

Funeral from Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven Tuesday morning at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul's Church at 11 o'clock.
