Leland F. Smith, passed away on Feb. 12, 2006 at the age of 94. he was born Jan. 31, 1912, the son of the late Charles and Mathilda (Zinther) Smith. In 1916, the family moved to the Town of Grover. He was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grover.
On Dec. 16, 1933, he married the former Margaret "Marge" Grady. She preceded him in death in 1999.
Leland worked for Thompson Boat Co. for 32 years and then was head custodian at the UW-Marinette for 12 years. He operated a Servicemaster business from 1965 to 1982. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Peshtigo; the Peshtigo School Board; The Peshtigo Fire Department; he was an avid golfer and loved to play cards.
Leland is survived by two daughters: Ann (Leonard) Lemke of Peshtigo, WI and Sharon (Harvey) Kamps of Coleman, WI; 17 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 brothers, 6 sisters, a grandson Brian Kamps and a great-granddaughter Cassie Konitzer.
