Victoria: Helen "Sookie" Bennett, 80 of Victoria passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013. Helen was born in Corsicana on January 13, 1933 to the late Rex and Luticia Coker Bower. She was married to the love of her life, Norman K. Bennett for 43 years, they were true soul mates.

Helen was a teacher for 20 years, she was a member of Baptist Temple Church where she volunteered, she loved her family and church and she was loyal and giving. Helen played bridge for over 50 years with the same players, loved the Longhorns and Cowboys and listening to George Strait.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman K. Bennett; sister, Jerry Jordan; brothers; Vernon Bower, Rex Bower, Jr, and Eddie Bower and grandson, James Aaron Bennett.

She is survived by children Bruce Wayne Bennett of Victoria, Brian Lee Bennett of Tulsa, OK and Jamie Dee Gillespie of Victoria as well as ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Burial will follow service at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
