Mrs. Verna Wetzel Pierce of Huntingdon R.D. 3 died Saturday, April 1, 1972 at 8 a.m. in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon where she had been a patient for three days.

Born November 11, 1904 in Hummelstown, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Susan (Lyter) Horst. She was twice married, first to Clair Wetzel and later to Thomas M. Pierce, who survives.

Also surviving is a son, H. Ted Wetzel of Saltillo.

Mrs. Pierce was a member of the State Street United Methodist Church of Harrisburg and the Capital City Chapter 146, Order of Eastern Star, Harrisburg.

She also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 9198, Andalusia. Mrs. Pierce was a 1922 graduate of Hummelstown High School.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 4 at 2 p.m. from the McClain Funeral Home, Cassville. The Rev. Charles F. Rhodes and the Rev. Ivan Pickford will officiate and interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Three Springs R.D.

Friends may call at the funeral home until the hour of the services.
