Bill served his country during WWII in the Merchant Marines, he had heart problems that kept him out of the Armed Forces. President Reagan made the Merchant Marines a branch of the service during his first term, he called them the "unsung HEROS of WWII". Bill was very patriotic and proud to have served his country. He was stationed in England and Belguim.
