He was born Oct. 18, 1942, in Spencerville to Ora Alonzo and Jennie Mae Brown Adams. On June 3, 1963, he married Barbara M. Klingler, who died March 24, 1999. On Oct. 13, 2001, he married Mary L. Perin, who survives.
Mr. Adams was a 1960 graduate of Spencerville High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve. He retired at 29 years at Dana Corp. in Lima working as a machinist. He was a member of the American Legion Post 96 in Lima, United Auto Workers union Local 1765, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691 in Wapakoneta. He enjoyed woodworking, NASCAR and his Gold Wing Aspencade motorcycle.
Survivors also include three children, Michael W. (Sally) Adams, of Spencerville, and Mark W. "Buck" (Jennifer Meyer) Adams and Kimberly B. Oglesbee, both of Lima; two stepchildren, Donna Grissom (Victor) Schmidt and Jamie Perin, both of Piqua; 12 grandchildren, Zachary Adams, of Lima, Seth Adams, of Spencerville, Sierra Adams, of Lima, Shane (Tiffany) Adams, of Delphos, Katie Kucheski, of Spencerville, Alexandria "Allie" Adams, of Spencerville, Christopher Adams, of Spencerville, Alexa, Alivia and Mark Austin Adams, all of Lima, and Brittany (Jeremy Hensley) Oglesbee and Matthew Oglesbee, both of Lima; and four stepgrandchildren, Anthony Grissom, Travis Massengill, Nathan Perin and Abby Perin, all of Piqua; and six great-grandchildren, Emalee Adams, Rilee and Milee Adams, Jordanne and Janelle Hensley and Jaylynn Oglesbee; a sister, Karen (Gilbert "Gil") Siebert Jr., of Sebring, Fla.; and a brother-in-law, Thomas W. Klinger, of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Michael E. Oglesbee.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. The Rev. Dr. Daniel H. Messner will officiate. Burial will be in Spencerville Cemetery with military rites by the Spencerville Veterans.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
