Mildred "Millie" Louise Nix Phillips, 93, of Evansville, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014, at Good Samaritan Home. She was born September 1, 1921, in Britt, Iowa to the late Christian and Sophia (Desch) Nix.

She grew up on a small Iowa farm along with her eight siblings. She graduated from Britt High School. In 1939 she moved to Evansville to join a brother and sister living here. She worked as an elementary school teacher at St. Wendel and Sacred Heart Catholic Schools, as a bookkeeper at the Executive Inn and as a secretary at the Evansville Courier and Press, later an Executive Secretary at Peabody Coal. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and in the company of good friends. She especially enjoyed playing a variety of card games. Being a farm child and of German extraction, she was independent and cherished her dear friends. As a depression era child, in hard times she had the outlook of, "we will get through this," and in good times would readily share her blessings with others.

Millie was preceded in death by her husbands, Ray Anderson, Alvin Jourdan, Fred Voetberg and Lyle Phillips, of 40 years in 2013 and son, John Anderson.

She is survived by her children, Gary and Richard Anderson and Paul and Charlie Jourdan and Sophia Aragon; thirteen grandchildren; and siblings, Chris and Bill Nix.

Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, with entombment in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 11:00 until service time at the funeral home.
