Services will be noon Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at New Life Church in Columbia.
Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery in Culleoka.
The body will lie in-state from noon-7 pm Wednesday at Baxter Bros. Funeral Home.
Baxter Bros. is in charge of the services.
He was a 1967 graduate of Carver Smith High School, a Viet Nam veteran, retired from UCAR and was a member of American Legion Post 170.
He was preceded in death by father James Baxter.
Survivors include mother Mrs. Bernice N. Baxter Alderson; sons William T. Baxter, Shannon D. Mayberry and Derrick Mayberry; daughter Kali M. Baxter; sisters Sandra (Wallace) Knott, Yolanda (Walter) Neal and Tonja (George) Napier; and five grandchildren.
