DELMONT, Pa. - Chesley Godfrey died Nov. 6, 2003 from cancer at age 70. He was born Nov. 10, 1932. Chesley was a loving father. He raised four children, Charles, Chesley Jr., Michele and Theresa and was very proud of his 10 grandchildren. He loved and is survived by his longtime companion, Dolores Porto. Chesley lived a full life. He was raised in West Virginia and Virginia by his mother, the late Thelma Claytor and his stepfather, the late Charles Claytor. Chesley was very close to his sister, Jeannie "Ronnie" Gilette. He spent two years in the Army. Most of his service time was spent in Alaska. After leaving the Army, Chesley obtained a civil engineering degree from Virginia Polytechnic University. He loved to hunt and fish. Some of his favorite times were spent with his friends and family at his hunting and fishing camp in Northern Pennsylvania. After his retirement in 1992, Chesley and Dolores spent many happy years traveling and enjoying life. Chesley was a member of the N.R.A., Ruffed Grouse Society and Variety Club of Pittsburgh. A graveside service will be conducted at noon Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Charles Wood. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Monday from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
