Son of Anthony Swarthout/Swartout, Sr. and Mary Armstrong.

Anthony Swarthout, Jr., married Elizabeth Lockwood abt 1778, NY. He served his country in the Revolutionary War. After the war they moved from Orange Co. to Pennsylvania 1784-1788, then on to Seneca Co (near Orvid), New York. Lastly, settling in Wayne, Steuben, New York.

Also know as the "Hagedorn Farm, originally owned by Anthony and Elizabeth (Lockwood) Swarthout, they are both buried on their farm which overlooks Lake Keuka. The approximate location lays just North of the intersection of Route 54 and Route 230.
