He was born November 19, 1937, in Fitchburg, son of the late Kenneth C. and Thelma (Knapp) Bonner. Renney began working in the sign industry in 1951 at Ken-Bon Signs, his father's company. He took over the business in 1962 and built it into the area's largest sign company. In 1970, he founded a second sign company in New York, and ran the two businesses simultaneously. Over the years, Renney obtained his master's electrician license, and worked in every facet of the sign industry. In 1996, he bought Wass-Arthur Sign Company and expanded it into the area's second largest sign company. In 2002, he turned Ken-Bon Signs over to his two sons and his son-in-law, but continued to be involved as a consultant. In 2012, he turned over Wass-Arthur Sign Company to his daughter and son-in-law. His legacy continues.
Renney was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish. He served as President of the Massachusetts Sign Contractors Association from 2002-2007. He was also a member and past President of the Exchange Club. He founded the Holland America Early Morning Coffee Club.
Renney enjoyed traveling with his wife. Together, they enjoyed over 120 cruises and visited more than 127 countries, multiple times. Earth ran out of places to cruise, so now he is exploring heaven. He is deeply loved and adored by his family.
