Harry Gilbert Ahart was born on February 6, 1919 in Youngs, El Dorado Co., CA, the son of James Wilkerson Ahart and Emma Emily Lyon. Harry appears in the 1920 and 1930 censuses in the family household. In 1940, he is married to Lorena and living in Lockeford, San Joaquin Co., CA. He is listed as "Harry" in his father's 1953 obituary. Then he became Chuck Graves Ahart, and is listed as Charles in his mother's 1960 obituary. In the mid to late 1950s, he changed his name and became two years older - if anyone can provide any details as to why, please let me know.

Harry/Chuck was married at least four times:

1. to Lorena Young ca. 1937. They had two sons (Gary Louis and James Gilbert).
[as Chuck]
2. to Mae ?. Divorced 1965 in Reno, NV.
3. to Vera C. ? in 1965/1966. They divorced in/before 1969.
4. to Dawn Marie Disbrow on June 21, 1991 in Nevada.

"FIRE, ACCIDENT, MYSTERY MONDAY
"The Portola Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call at the Sierra Apartments east of town about 8:99 p.m. last Monday night. A pile of furniture and clothing were found burning in the yard in front of Apartment No. 2, registered to Churck and Vera Ahart. ... Subsequently, the Portola Police Department received the report of an auto off the road and in the gully near Rocky Point. The report came into the office at 12:30 a.m. Upon investigation the car was found to be registered to Harry Gilbert Ahart. The auto had apparently been involved in an accident, had rolled, and come to rest in the ditch. The auto was severly [sic] damaged. The driver of the auto could not be located at that time. ..."
