OBITUARY-
Alan Ray Kuns, 54, of rural Lyle, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at his home.
He was born Aug. 30, 1947, in Forest City, Iowa, to Ernest and Vesta (Carr) Kuns.
He attended school in Fertile, Iowa and graduated from Forest City High School in 1965.
He married Kandyce "Kandy" Callies Aug. 1, 1970, in Forest City, Iowa.
Following his graduation from South Dakota State University in 1972, with a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy, the couple made their home in Minneapolis. While living in Minneapolis, Alan worked as a pharmacist and district manager for K-Mart Corporation. In May of 1990, they moved to rural Lyle, where Alan continued to work for K-Mart and in 1998 joined Target as a pharmacist and district manager. He also worked part-time for Ruffalo Drug Store in Rochester as well as recruiting pharmacists for Target.
He enjoyed rollerblading, baseball, golf, corvettes, airplanes and the internet.
He was an active member of Crane Community Chapel where he served on the church board and as a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Kandyce "Kandy" Kuns, rural Lyle; daughters and son-in-law, Callies and Devin Voigt, Taopi; Amanda Kuns, rural Lyle; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Neil and Elaine Kuns, Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Bonnie Kuns, Forest City, Iowa; mother-in-law, Evelyn Callies, Rochester; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dale Kuns;and father-in-law, Frank Callies.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Crane Community Chapel, in Austin, with Rev. Randy Petersen officiating.
Visitation: Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and at the church for one hour before the service on Wednesday.
Interment: Woodybury Cemetery, rural Lyle.
