Mystery shrouds this ancestor. He was born John Dugan, but his family died of a terrible fever. A neighboring farming family allegedly took him in and raised him and gave him their last name of Stevenson. His marriage certificate to Della Rhodes Stevenson identifies the adoptive parents as Annie Goss Stevenson and Joseph Stevenson. Della Rhodes appears to have had a pervious marriage and a son Charles Leahy.

John H. Stevenson's genetic children, all born in PA, were Agnes, Cecilia, John and Charles Stevenson. He was a miner in Pennsylvania until retirement.

He, his wife Della Rhodes Stevenson and both sons moved to Michigan for the auto industry, which his son took up. He lived next door to Charles Edward Stevenson and his wife Marcella Schick Stevenson in Flint, Genesee County, MI.

And, that's all she wrote. His offspring live mostly in Michigan to this day.
