Hazel Geneva Lane, 84, former resident of Reno and Newport, Rt. 1, died at 3 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 4, 1995) at Marietta Convalescent Center.

She was born April 8, 1910, in Archers Fork, Washington County, to Frank L. and Emma Hamilton Decker and lived there until her marriage. She had been a babysitter for several families in the community and had also been a domestic worker. She was a member of Reno Christian Church and the Ladies Missionary Society. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and working in her flower garden.

She is survived by one step grandson, Jerry Lane of Houston, Texas; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; nephews Frank Lane of Dayton; Gale Decker of Lexington, N.C., and Richard Decker of Marietta; nieces Edith Gutberlet, June Gutberlet, Eileen Greathouse, and Maxine Ford of Marietta; and several great and great great nieces and nephews.

On June 27, 1949, she married Richard Thomas Lane who preceded her in death on February 24, 1984. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Foster Decker; sisters Lora Decker Haught, Audrey Decker Lane and Clarice Decker Bircher; and one nephew, Loren Haught.

Services are 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at McClure-Schafer Funeral Home in Marietta with Brenton C. DeWees officiating. Burial is in Barker Cemetery. Friends may call at funeral home until time of services.
