William married Anna Abbott, sometime prior to 1819. We presume they married in New York.
William received a military land warrant for his service. He used that warrant in October of 1818 to obtain 160 acres of land in present-day Fulton County, Illinois. From there, the family moved to Madison County, Illinois, near present-day Venice, where they owned land fronting on the Mississippi River. In April of 1828, William purchased land from Aaron Ricketts in Greene, now Jersey County. By present-day landmarks, that land is situated between Rosedale and Nutwood, just south of the intersection of Illinois Route 100 (The Great River Road) and Otter Creek Road. There William and Anna remained for the rest of their lived.
Together William and Anna were the parents of five known children: William Court Jr.; Lydia Court Maltimore; Margaret Court Richey; John Court; and Charles Court.
According to his military records, William was 5'10" tall, with dark hair and dark eyes.
