Edwin Randall Culpepper, "Randy", born in Groesbeck, Texas on June 22, 1925, the son of Carl and Lois Culpepper, died on August 29, 2013 around 9:00 pm, in his home in Missouri City, surrounded by family.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Judy Lewis.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Peggy Culpepper, daughter Sheri Burnett and her husband Roy Burnett, daughter Jody Valentine and her husband Paul Valentine, daughter Amy Harrott, sister Janice Shult and her husband Richard Shult. Randy is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 1 niece, 1 great niece and numerous cousins.
Randy proudly served in the Navy during World War II on Okinawa Island from 1943-1946. He married Peggy in 1948. He worked at Modern Optics, which later became part of Shuron (also a division of Textron) for 43 years. Although Randy loved to fish, his sport of choice was golf, of which he was an avid player for much of his life. Randy also loved baseball and was a lifelong Astros fan. Randy was a Mason for 60 years and also became a Shriner.However, the greatest love of his life was his family. Randy was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and grandfather. Randy was known to his grandchildren only as "Big Daddy" and will be greatly missed.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 2, 2013 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris Street, Bellaire, TX 77401. The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 also at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, followed by a burial service at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023.
