Martha (Mattie) was the youngest child of Daniel Shea and Margaret Sullivan.
Mattie married after the death of her parents. She married Dr. George W. Cook on 17 Dec 1889. They had these children: Clifford (1891), William (1892), Wilbur (1892) and George Russell (1898).
In a letter dated Jan 1988, from her granddaughter Jean, states her grandmother immigrated from Canada to Michigan when Mattie was 3 years old.
After the birth of her 4th child, she suffered post partum depression. Back in those days- they did not know of this condition. Mattie was placed in the hospital where she remained until her death. It would have been impossible to be discharged in those days. In a letter from her granddaughter (Mary), she fell and hit her head likely attributed to- or causing her death.
Her final resting place is unknown.
