A native of Chicago, Mr. Schwingel moved here in 1969. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II; and a member of VFW Post 8083 of Belleview.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Schwingel, Summerfield; daughter, Susan Cottrill, Atlanta, Ga.; sons, William S. Schwingel Jr., Belleview, Phillip J. Schwingel, Pedro, Duane C. Schwingel, Groveland, Kenneth R. Schwingel, Summerfield, and Tod A. Schwingel, Kissimmee; sisters, Jeanette Iser and Shirley Cahn, both of Chicago; brothers, Dick Schwingel, Chicago, Bob Schwingel, Escondido, Calif., and Jerry Schwingel, High Springs; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
