Evan was the son of Rudolphus and Helen (Young) Lounsbury of Salamanca, New York. He was the brother of Daniel Walter Lounsbury and Cecelia Lounsbury. Early in his life his occupation was a cheese maker for local cheese factory. In 1920 he was a laborer for Randolph Furniture Works were he worked for 45 years.

He married Margaret "Minnie" Jensen in 1906, they had two children Lavier and Cecelia.

Evan died at the age of 81 at the Olean General Hospital. He was survived by his wife Minnie Jensen Lounsbury; his son Lavier of Zanesville Ohio and his daughter Mrs. Cecelia Vance of Rochester ten grand-children and nine great grand-children. Rev. John B. O'Malley officiated a Requiem Mass at St. Patrick Church. He is buried in the Catholic Section of St. Patrick's Cemetery (Lot 66 Row 14).
