Katherine Louise Kendall was born Nov. 18, 1950, in Jefferson, daughter of Johnie Everett and Verda Louise (Kopaska) Battles and died of cancer on Feb. 15, 1996, at her home in Jefferson. She was 45 years, 2 months and 27 days of age.


Kathy lived in Jefferson most of her life with the exception of two years in Oklahoma City, OK. Lovingly known as "Kathy", she graduated in 1969 from Jefferson Community High School.


She married Lewis L. "Mike" Kendall on February 6, 1970, at Central Christian Church in Tulsa, OK. They became parents of three sons: Lewis LeRoy, Jr., Mark Mathew and Samuel Wilson Kendall. Kathy was a homemaker much of her life but was head cook for five years at Cedar Lane Estates near Jefferson.


Preceding Kathy in death were her grandparents; two uncles: Willard and Elmer Kopaska; four aunts: Lydia Kopaska, Loris Page, Beverly Banks and Twilla Kopaska; father-in-law, Leo Herbert Kendall; nephew Earl Sloan.


Living on without Kathy are her husband, Mike of Jefferson

Kathy's funeral was 10:00 a.m. Feb. 19 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Words of comfort were offered by Rev. Wendy Miles of Central Christian Church. Casket bearers were Warren F. Simpson, Dick St. Clair, Nick Friess, Warren P. Simpson, Earl Dawson and Bob Smith. Honorary bearers were Kathy Davisson, Linda Wittrock, Christy Hurley and Dana George. Chad Sloan sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden", accompanied by Joyce Kinsman on organ. Interment was in Jefferson Cemetery.
