Nina Myrtle (Bobo) Oates, 96, a resident of Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the nursing home.

Born a twin on December 13, 1910 at Westernport, MD, she was a daughter of the late Manning Ellsworth and Emma Frances (Wiltison) Bobo. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband William L. Oates in March of 1955; two sons, Harry E. Oates and John M.D. Oates and by all of her brothers and sisters; from oldest to youngest: Clara Bobo, Benjamin Franklin Bobo, Grace Melda Virginia Bobo, Gertha Lillian Bobo, Frederick Lynn Bobo, her twin Hazel Arbutus Bobo, Nettie Mae Bobo, Pearl Louise Bobo and Leaffy Jane Bobo.

Mrs. Oates was a long standing member of the Mt. Zion Church on Knobley Road and was a homemaker. She will be loved and missed as she leaves everlasting memories in the heart of everyone she ever met. She truly was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Everyone loved going to Grandma Nina's at the Keyser House for Saturday breakfast/lunch for as long as she was able to prepare it. Her baked macaroni and cheese and chicken and dumplings will be a lasting memory to us all.

Surviving are one daughter, Hazel F. Miller of New Creek, WV; three sons, Norman L. Oates of Mill Run, Edward F. Oates of New Creek and M. Wayne Oates and daughter-in-law Linda of Fountain and one other daughter-in-law, Norma of Romney, WV. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, March 16 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services were conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Eisenhour officiating.

Interment was in the Bloomington Cemetery, Bloomington, MD.

The family would like to thank Heartland of Keyser for the excellent care given to this lovely lady during the more than seven years that she has lived there. She has been treated like royalty and the entire staff of Heartland of Keyser can be proud of the fact that they have been directly responsible for more than seven additional quality years of her life. Also, a special thanks to Linda Wilson for being the family's contact for counseling, advice and for being such a special friend.
