Funeral services for James Howard Brown, 82, of Route 3, Northport, who died Sunday in Druid City Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Robert H. Brown of Tuscaloosa and John Harold Brown of Greensboro, N.C.; nine daughters, Mrs. Nan Reid of Mobile, Mrs. Lee Livingston of Millport, Mrs. Juanita McFarland of Minnetonka, Minn., Mrs. Jean Ronningen of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Margaret Tyner of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Catherine Lovelace, Mrs. Mary Sue McCormick, Mrs. Joyce O'Bryant and mrs. Jewel Boothe, all of Tuscaloosa; two brothers, John C. Brown and Lee Brow, both of Northport; 34 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Mike McCormick, Randy Brown, Bobby O'Bryant, Kevin Boothe, Dan McCormick and Scooter O'Bryant.
He was a life-long resident of Tuscaloosa, a member of the Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church and a retired farmer. For many years he operated the Browns Grocery grist mill and feed mill. He was a leader in the community and worked hard to bring better roads and utilities to his community, donating property for rights-of-way, when necessary.
