Born to William Sampson, Junior, and Sarah/Sally (Unknown) Sampson.

Married to Mary Jane Hoy on January 25, 1844 in Ross County, Ohio.

He served in the Mexican War with his son, Henry Curtis Sampson, who passed away while they were in captivity, preceding him in death. Even though William made it home, he passed away one week later.

Survivors were his wife, Mary Jane Hoy and their children:
1-Henry Curtis Sampson (1844-1864);
2-Isaac (Matilda Alice Rowe) Sampson (1851-1931) and their nine children;
3-Susan Sampson (1853-1924), she marred Orlando Williams on August 20, 1878 and they had six children;
4-Sarah Belle (Sampson) Lutz (1860-1918);
2-Mary Jane Sampson (1850-1915);
5-Martha Sampson (1860-1925).

He was buried in Browns Chapel Church and Cemetery. The cemetery is adjacent to the Church.
