Onslow. July 20.
The funeral of Margaret Mackerel, of
Onslow, was held at the Presbyterian
church. last Thursday afternoon at 2
o'clock. The services were conducted by
Rev. H. F. Pickering, and burial was had
at North Madison cemetery.
Mrs. Mackerel was a daughter of W. H.
Reade and Margaret M. Reade. She was
born February 20, 1873, in Clay township near
Onslow, and died on the 13th inst. at the
home of her parents in Onslow.
She was united in marriage to W. A.
Mackerel May 9, 1897. To this union was
born one daughter, Wilma, now a resident
of Rapid City, South Dakota.
Mrs. Mackerel was the fourth of a family
of eight children, all of whom survive her
except one sister, who died in infancy.
The survivors are as follows:
Henry Reade of Onslow; Mrs. W. D. Livingston
of Marshalltown; Mrs. Esther McDonald of
Center Junction; Mrs. Lillie V. Roberts of Olin;
Mrs. Ella Curtright of Rockwell City, and Mrs.
Lula B. Neelans of Ruthton, Minnesota.
She is also survived by her parents.
Mrs. Mackerel had been in ill health during
the past twelve years, but was always a
patient and uncomplaining sufferer. During
the major portion of this time she had
lived at the home of her parents in Onslow,
where all that loving hands could do
was done to help her and make her life
life easier. She united with the Presbyterian
church of Onslow, February 21 1895.
The family desires to extend
thanks to all who remembered them by
their sympathies and services, and sending
flowers at the time of the funeral.
Dave and Lizzie Russell and Allie Feihan,
of Anamosa, Dr. Stoffel and wife and
Hoy Colley and wife, of Wyoming, were
in attendance at the funeral of Mrs
Mackrill.
Mrs. Ella Curtright, Mr. and Mrs. Wil
Livingstone, Mrs. Lou Weelan and Mrs
Esther McDonald were all here to attend
the funeral of their sister, Mrs. Mackrill.
