Violet E. Jahnke, age 86, of Ellsworth died Saturday, June 5, 1999, at the Ellsworth Care Center, where she had been a resident the past three years.
She was born Feb. 13, 1913, in Wahpeton, N.D., the daughter of Carl and Kathryn (Hothussen) Erdman.
She married Louis R. Jahnke June 12, 1940, in Lund.
She was a long time member of Zion Covenant Church, Ellsworth. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She especially enjoyed gardening and loved growing flowers around her home.
She is survived by: three sons and two daughters, Robert (Ann) Jahnke of Ellsworth, Lowell (Jeanne) Jahnke of Ellsworth, Paul (Cora) Jahnke of Atlanta, Ruthann Smith of St. Paul, and MaryEllen (Randy) Berg of Ellsworth; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, three brothers and three sisters.
Services were Tuesday, June 8, at at Zion Covenant Church, Ellsworth. Rev. David Eaton officiated. Interment was in the Lund Covenant Cemetery.
