Helen was a member of Avonport United Baptist Church. She was also past president of the Avonport Women's Institute and past Noble Grand of the Helping Hand Rebekah Lodge No. 40, Hantsport. Helen loved flowers, especially the
yellow roses she grew in her garden. She enjoyed being a member of the Busy Bee Sewing Group in Avonport, making quilts. Helen liked to play cards and was an excellent cook, no one ever left her house hungry.
Helen's family was very important to her, especially
her children, Harry Jr. (Joan), Brooks, Alta.; daughters, Gloria Veino, Avonport; Sharon Chenier-Kelly, Aylesford Lake; Deborah (William) Burgan, Aylesford Lake. Helen has grandchildren spread throughout the world, from Thailand to California, each and everyone meant everything to her. She has 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; sister in-law, Madge Sweet.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Harry Llewellyn Rogers, in 2005 after being married for 69 years; and infant son, Donald Wayne Rogers. She was also predeceased by sisters, Mary and Oreno; brothers, Russell, Albert, William, Reginald "Med", Robert, and Burpee.
There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial
service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, in Avonport United Baptist Church, Rev. Gail Whalen-Dunn officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church. A private family interment will take place in Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Avonport United Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 568 Main St., Wolfville (902-542-2151).
