Joseph Morton Talley, 67, of Jonesborough, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Summit View Nursing Home in Lake City, Tennessee.

He was a native of Howesville, Indiana son of the late Morton G. and Freda Funkhouser Talley.

Joseph was a millwright and had served in the U. S. Navy on the U. S. S. Enterprise. He was a founder and former executive director for the Haven of Mercy of Johnson City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Donda Talley, a sister, Ruth Ann Love and a brother, Robert Talley.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Holly Talley of the home; a step daughter, Molly Lynn Fowler of Laytonsville, MD; a step grandson, Christopher Fowler, II; a step great granddaughter, Riley Lynn Fowler; a son Joseph Talley, Jr. of Denver, CO; a daughter, Amanda Foulk of Arkansas; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Foulk; three sisters, Karen Wales, Joan Wise and Jean Plumber; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Johnson City Church of God, under the direction of Rev. Bryant Collins, Jr. and Rev. Hobart Bradshaw. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. A committal service will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. Active pallbearers will be: Christopher Fowler, II, A. B. Holly, Wilburn Holly, Dennis Holly, Dylan Holly and Tyler Moffitt. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dusty Moffitt, Q. D. Holly, Blake Holly, Robert Moore, Bobby J. Holly, Trey Moore and Mark Moffitt. Memorials may be made to the Johnson City Church of God, 1908 Indian Ridge Road, Johnson City, TN 37604.
