St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, on Monday, September 9, 2013, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Marin Joseph Durand, 81, who passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Sunday, and continue at 7:00 am until 1:30 pm on Monday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday.

Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Mr. Durand honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was part owner of family businesses, Durand Ponds and Farms, Inc. and Teche Valley Seafood, Inc.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family while working in the fields.

He was a member of the Woodmen of the World Society.

He is survived by his sons, Matt (Dean Barras) Durand of St. Martinville, Jeffrey J. (Lisa Bujard) Durand, Edgar J. (Georgette Derouen) Durand, Daniel J. (Angie Boutte) Durand, Gregory J. (Charlotte Crochet) Durand, and C.J. (Candis Renee') Durand; his daughters, Connie Durand (Louis, Jr.) Bergeron, Margot Durand (Dirk) Babin, and Joanna E. Durand; all of St. Martinville; his sisters, Mary Alice Borel of Port Arthur, TX, Isabelle Daspit of St. Martinville, and Loretta Theriot of Denham Springs; 18 grandchildren, John Durand, Staci D. Fuselier, Skyler Bergeron, Melanie Durand, Rebecca Durand, Ryan Durand, Michael Durand, Trisha Durand, Billy Babin, Holli Guilbeau, Gena Babin, Alicia Durand, Kristen Durand, Elliot Langlinais, Evan Langlinais, Jordan Durand, Keyla Durand, and Jonathan Durand; and 3 great grandchildren, Ben Durand, Max Durand, and Chloe Bourque.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Joanna Conery Durand; his parents, John M. and Isabelle Pedeau Durand; three brothers, Alcee, Lawrence, and Paul Durand; and his sister, Joyce Decourt.

Honored to serve as his Pallbearers are his six sons.

Heartfelt thanks to the ladies from Vee's Service, Hospice Compassus and AAA Home Health and Hospice.
