Funeral services for Maxine Lamar Taylor Heard, 90, of Quitman will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Fred Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Springs Cemetery with Paul Shaw, Charles Hill, Gerald Heard, Kevin Taylor, Tony Taylor and Al Taylor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Wesley Boyce Taylor, Tommy Thurman, Adrian Taylor, Philip Taylor, Scott Taylor and Chris Taylor.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at the funeral home.
She was born April 28, 1923, in Wood County to Pink and Elthie Peoples Taylor. She married Cecil "Top" Heard, who preceded her in death in 2005.
She was a caregiver and a homemaker and enjoyed working in her hobbies - stained glass and vegetable and flower gardening. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Quitman. Maxine was preceded in death by parents; husband; brothers, Othal Taylor, Alvin Taylor, Troyce Taylor; and sisters, Myrtle Thurman, Eva Taylor, Jewell Shaw and Cecilia Hill Deel.
She is survived by a brother, Wesley Boyce Taylor, many nieces and nephews and longtime friend, Jeri Stubblefield.
