Ruth Agnes Cain Allen 1911 ~ 2006
Ruth Agnes Cain Allen was born November 1, 1911 in Missoula, Montana and died September 3, 2006 at Christus St. Joseph Villa in Salt Lake City. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was the youngest of ten siblings born to Horace B. and Anna Fleming Cain. She worked for the FBI during World War II in Butte, Montana, where she met her husband, Arthur A. Allen, Jr. She was very musically talented, playing the piano and teaching herself how to play the organ. She was the organist at St. Ambrose Catholic Church and Cosgriff School, and also at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Salt Lake City for over 20 years. Ruth was an active Catholic and was a member of St. Ambrose parish. Ruth was the administrative assistant at the University of Utah Mailing Bureau for several years. Following this she was the administrative assistant to the Chancellor of the Salt Lake Catholic Diocese. She later served as the receptionist for the Catholic Diocesan offices and the Catholic Bishop of the Salt Lake Diocese. Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Margaret (David) Roylance of Boston, MA; Katherine (Robert) Frandsen of Leavenworth, KS; and Dorothy (Lothair) Pendleton of Salt Lake City. Also ten grandchildren and five great-grand-children. She was preceded in death by her parents; all nine of her siblings; and her son-in-law, Robert. Thanks to her special angels, Miriam, Lupe, Frankie, and Rebecca. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 1:30 p.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 South 2300 East. Holy rosary will be recited Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may call from 6-7 p.m. Committal, Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street. .
