He was born May 12, 1922 in Norman, Arkansas to the late Ed and Ruby Barnes Barnett .His twin brother, Rayford lived only a few months.
Growing up Raymond worked in the Timber Industry. During the early 40's he joined the CCC program, but came back to Mena when World War ll began. He enlisted in the Army and was placed in the Corp of Engineers. After training in the United States, he was sent to Philippines and Guam, where he spent the majority of his 22 months of service. After his discharge, he married Ruby Spake Barnett until her death.
He made his home in Big Fork, Arkansas and worked in different logging and lumber mills until he retired.
Raymond was a hardworking, fun loving, kind and friendly man who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by:

He was preceded in death by his, brothers, Warren Barnett, and Roy Lee Barnett, sisters, Jean Wright, Jessie Marie McMillian and Opal Edwards
Funeral services will be Monday, September 9, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at the Beasley Wood Chapel with Brother Allan Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Big Fork, Arkansas under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Barnett, David Barnett, John Carl Aleshire, Joffrey Putman, Jerry Vekre and Carl Willcoxon.
