Darlene Mae Stanton, 60, of Connersville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 1, 2010 surrounded by her family at her home. She had fought a courageous battle with cancer for more than two years.

She was born January 1, 1950 in Connersville, the daughter of William R. and Delores O. Carlin Arvin.

A lifelong resident of Connersville, she graduated from the Connersville High School in 1997 after obtaining her GED.

On June 25, 1977, she was married to Everett 'Bud' Howard Stanton of Connersville.

Darlene was formerly employed at Ford Electronics and Refrigeration, Container Craft, J.J. Packaging, Hasslers Cleaners and Lincoln Center Nursing Homes.

She was a longtime member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church in Irvine, Kentucky where her grandfather had served as the pastor.

During her leisure she loved to play Bingo, travel and spend time with her grandchildren.

Survivors beside her husband of 32 years, Everett 'Bud' Howard Stanton include five children: Nathaniel G. Arvin and Danny J. Smith of Connersville, Larry W. Smith and wife, Cristal C. of Richmond, Lisa Sprauge of Carmel and Darrell C. Smith and wife, Sheila A. of Connersville; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters: Anita Mullins and husband Stanley of Connersville, Darlene's identical twin sister, Marlene Erlewein and husband, Darrell of Nicholasville, Kentucky, William Eugene Arvin of Cambridge City, James R. Arvin and wife , Angie of Paris, Kentucky, Carol Robinson of Connersville and Larry John Arvin of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She will be sadly missed by her pet dog, "Shag".

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Shannon Lora Smith, who died October 2, 1994; a sister, Connie Joanne Arvin; her parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be conducted by Fuzzy Lake, Pastor of Jesus Christ Community Church at 11 AM Saturday, June 5, 2010 in Miller Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to the Fayette County Cancer Fund.
