Helen was the second of three daughters born to Charles F Dailey and Sarah "Sallie" Margaret (Haddon) Dailey. She was born on Christmas Day. When her father died in 1902 her mother moved the family close to her own brother, Elmer Haddon, in Anacortes, WA. In 1920 Helen was living with her widowed mother and one sister and working as a timekeeper in a lumber mill. After her mother remarried they moved to Sacramento and by 1930 Helen was living with her widowed sister Leanah and Leanah's 10 year old son Charley Schanz who went on to become a pro-baseball player for the Phillies, Senators and other teams. In 1969 Helen married her sister Hazel's widower, Harold Briggs. He died in Jan. of 1985 and she died in August of the same year after 15 years of marriage.
