Mary Weaver Chandler was born at Lennox, Conecuh County, Alabama, to Nancy Ellen Holland and John Daniel Weaver, Jr. One of 11 children, she was born on a farm to the "wealthiest farmer in Conecuh County", she completed the 10th grade, which was a good education in her day. She met and married William Franklin Chandler, Sr. and reared two children, Wm. F. Chandler, Jr., and Ellen Rebekah Chandler. Another child, Clarisse, died as a young child. Mary Chandler lived her later years in Owenton, which is within walking distance of where she now rests. Her interests were gardening, sales, her grandchildren and her church.
