Rufus B. Brooks, 86, a Springfield resident until August, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday at Prophetstown.

Since he sold his home at 717 N. Bond St. last summer, he had been living with a son, Edgar Brooks of Prophetstown.

Survivors include his wife, Grace M. Brooks, of Prophetstown; two sons, Edgar, and Roy Brooks, of Walla Walla, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Floy Denk, of Bloomington; and Mrs. Frances Seiz, of Springfield; one brother, Earl C. Brooks, of Hubbard Lake, Mich.; four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Poff, Mrs. Laura Holiday and Mrs. Edna Brimbarger, all of Springfield; and Mrs. Mamie Rutherford, of Chicago; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Services were at Bisch Memorial Home.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
