Howard J. Lehmann, 84, of Springfield, died, August 21, 2013 at his residence.
Howard was born on December 11, 1928 in Gridley, IL, the son of Joseph Peter and Wanda Neher Lehmann. He married Miriam Joyce Messer on August 27, 1950 in Lexington, IL.
Howard was a graduate of Gridley High School and was the operator of Glass Specialty. He was one of the founders of MARA – Midwest Auto Racing Association and Abe Lincoln Quarter Midget Association. He served on the Board of Directors for RFMS. Racing was more than a hobby to Howard, it was a way of life. He also enjoyed fishing, water sports, and water skiing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John and wife, Kathy Lehmann; and his infant sister.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lehmann of Springfield; son, Donald (wife, Ann Kmett) Lehmann of Springfield; two daughters, Doris (husband, Fabian) Guarderas of Cave in the Rock, IL and Diane (husband, Frank) Suchomel of Morgan Hill, CA; three grandchildren, F.J. (wife, Nicole) Suchomel, Susan Suchomel, and Jack Joseph Lehmann; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Avery; sister, Marianne (deceased husband, Jack) Doyle of Carrolton, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be accorded by following ceremonies.
Burial will be held at a later date.
