In September of 1861, Abe mustered into the 1st Maryland Potomac Home Brigade and served in the Civil War until he was discharged in October of 1864.
After the war, Abraham worked as Lock-Keeper of Lock #32 on the C&O Canal. In the late 1880s he purchased 15 acres of land across the Potomac in Loudoun Heights, Loudoun County, Virginia. There here lived until his death in 1894.
The burial location of Abraham F has not yet been determined. Abraham is my gr-gr-gr-grandfather and is possibly buried on his old farm in Loudoun County. However, it is also very possible he is buried in an unmarked grave in the Virts Cemetery outside Sandy Hook Maryland.
