Alice Eloise Hentze

Alice Hentze of Junction City passed away September 9 at the age of 89. She was born January 23, 1924 in Scranton, IA to Charles and Gladys (Sayre) Glenn. She graduated from Junction City High School in 1941, and she attended Oregon State College for one year before marrying Merle Hentze on October 10, 1943 in Eugene, OR. They were married 64 years. She farmed with her husband, Merle, on the Hentze Farm in Junction City after their marriage. She also worked as a florist at Edward Flowers and the Flower Gallerie in Junction City. She is survived by 3 sons: Dick Hentze of Baker City, OR; Gordon and Greg Hentze of Junction City, OR; a daughter: Karen McEldowney Hay of Junction City, OR; one sister: Marian Tracer of Junction City, OR; and six grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Merle in 2008 and her oldest grandson, Mark Hentze in 2012. A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church in Junction City on Saturday, September 14 at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Junction City.
