Curtis E. “Junior” Blake of Portland, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Wed., Sept. 19, 2001 at the age of 69.
Junior was born on July 17, 1932 in Crown City, Ohio, the son of Curtis and Vernie (Gooderham) Blake.
A Portland resident for most of his life, Mr. Blake
was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War and a lifetime member of the Portland VFW Post #4090.
He worked for several construction companies and retired from Eastlund Construction Company as an operator engineer.
Surviving are his wife, Jetta of Portland; two daughters; 1 son; several brothers and sisters-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Otis Buell and Rev. Thomas Edwards of the Good Shepherd Primitive Baptist Church of Farmington Hills at 11
a.m., Saturday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 1301 E. Grand River Ave.,Portland with interment following at Portland Cemetery.
Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Portland VFW Post #4090.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to the Portland VFW Post #4090 or to the Lyons Muir VFW Post #4646.
