Mary Christine (Kalscheur) Roberts, age 89, of Waunakee, died on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at Meriter Hospital. She was born on June 4, 1916, in Cross Plains, to Jacob and Katherine (Schroeder) Kalscheur. She married Don Roberts on July 5, 1943. She was employed at the Bank of Cross Plains and later, retired from the Bank of Waunakee, in 1975. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and previously a member of the Christian Mother's Society. She enjoyed sewing and knitting for many years, was an avid sports fan and loved playing cards. She is survived by two children, David (Sandie) Roberts of Pardeeville and Kay (Harley) Cliff of Waunakee; two grandsons, Michael Cliff of Denver, Colo. and Christopher Cliff of Madison; a sister, Catherine Raemisch of Madison; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 1991; her parents; eight brothers, Jacob, John (Matt), Clemens, Melchior, Cyril (Jim), Henry, Norbert and Herbert Kalscheur; and two sisters, Irma Brackett and Lydia Brunner. The family would like thank the staff at Waunakee Manor of their compassion and care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at 2 p.m. at ST. JOHN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Waunakee. Monsignor James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
