Thelma Y. Lockard, 94, of Golden Crest Assisted Living in Hampstead, formerly of Reisterstown, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in Carroll Hospice's Dove House. Born Sept. 14, 1918, in Winfield, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Addie Barnes Yohn. She was the wife of Gordon N. Lockard, her husband of 65 years, who died in 2005. She was a 1935 graduate of Westminster High School and a 1939 graduate of Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College. She was a teacher with Baltimore County Schools for 30 years. She was an avid tennis player and received a Sports Hall of Fame Award from WMC. She was a member of ROG Coordinating Council and the Reisterstown United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for 60 years. She was also a member of the Franklin High School Alumni Association. Surviving are a son, Gordon D. "Denny" Lockard, of Reisterstown; daughter Bonnie L. Richardson and longtime companion Philip Popovec, of Finksburg; grandchildren Dean and Ellie Lockard, of Reisterstown, Dawn and Rob Anderson, of Conyers, Ga., Regina and Chris Michel, of Westminster, and Timothy and Dana Richardson, of Moyock, N.C.; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Manro Yohn; and sisters Esther Byers and Ruth Bricker.
