Edward E. Atchison, 83, of Harrisville died Monday, July 16, 2007 at home.
He was born on December 16, 1923 in Harrisville to John
and Beatrice (Dunn) Atchison.
He graduated from Harrisville High School. He served in
the Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed at
Timian Island from where the plane was loaded for the
launching of the atomic bomb.
He married Julia E. Slater on October 14, 1943.
Longtime Harrisville residents, they resided in Marathon
Key, Fla. from 1970 until 1987 returning to Harrisville.
Mr. Atchison was a carpenter and built many homes.
Mr. Atchison is survived by his wife, Julia; two sons,
Dennis (Janet) of Lake Havasu, Ariz. and Edward (Jan) of
Harrisville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
one sister, Vivian Gray of Flint, Mich.; and one brother, Milo of Harrisville.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at
Springport Cemetery in Harrisville. The Rev. Tracy Brooks will officiate.
Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral
Home, Lincoln.
